July 11th, 1944. After a hard night’s work, the squadron’s mechanics at Duxford airfield take a well-deserved coffee as they brief the pilots on the status of their aircraft. The day’s operations include bomber escort and reconnaissance of enemy positions around Caen. Spirits are high -the Allied campaign in Normandy is going rather well- though everybody knows some of the planes will not make it back to England…
